Paralympic swimmer Anne Wacuka from Nairobi, Kenya

“My name is Anne Wacuka Njeri. I am a swimmer”. That is how inspirational paralympic swimmer Anne Wacuka introduces herself and tells her story. With pride and dignity. In Nairobi, Kenya it is not so easy to grow up with a disability. A lack of knowledge often let people treat you with pity.  But Anne started swimming in primary school, and went back to swimming in 2010. She was selected for paralympic swimming in the Commonwealth Games in India and Glasgow (2014), and for the All Africa Games in 2011. Now she is in training for Rio de Janeiro in 2016. The advice Anne gives to other disabled young persons is that everyone is given a talent. “Explore it!”
